After 20+ years as an SLP, this is definitely one of the most practical and interesting conferences I have ever been to. The way Lois and Kim reviewed and pulled together critical information related to auditory language skill development was so meaningful and relevant to the work I do. The breakout groups allowed us to put what we were learning into practice, while learning from discussion in a smaller group. The creative teaching strategies and systematic instructional plan made so much sense right away; so many of my clients will be able to benefit from Sounds Fun immediately. I would definitely recommend this course to my colleagues!!

This course was fantastic! Crystal clear explanations about how listening skills are the crucial foundation for language, reading and academics, and excellent demonstrations of fun, engaging activities to teach these skills in the classroom or therapy. After taking this course, I feel energized and inspired to use the beautiful, ready-to-go materials with my clients!

This workshop provides background information about the range of auditory skills that are required to be a successful learner and communicator. These are then organized within a framework designed by the presenter to teach a "bottoms up" strategy for targeting all of the prerequisite auditory skills that ultimately lead us to comprehension and executive function abilities. We are then presented with the application of this approach in the format of "reading" books to young children. worksheets were provided, breakout rooms were used for brainstorming and we were provided with the ability to practice the skills. i took the course yesterday and began implementing the program today! Well worth the time to hear these presenters.

Sounds Fun 1 and Sounds Fun 2 provided two full days of useful content from theory to application. The provided manual and activities are a great addition to my materials library; I can really hit the ground running with this protocol for my preschoolers and young school age clients who are falling through the cracks despite receiving traditional language therapy and school support. Thank you!

This was one of the best courses I’ve ever taken. The small size and collaboration really helped reinforce the program and rationale behind it. I loved that the background knowledge was thoroughly explained and frequently referred to during the course work so that the connections were firmly established. As a kinesthetic learner I enjoyed that we were able to brain storm and go through the lessons together. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to further their knowledge on auditory processing and have a hierarchical program to use to target auditory skills.

It was very worthwhile to review grade expectations, building blocks of listening, and the effects of poor listening skills. I will definitely employ some of the recommended strategies such as acoustic highlighting, book turnarounds, and visualizing prior to reading.
